Yin Yoga and Sound Bath

Yin Yoga with Soundbath (every Thursday 7-8:30PM starting April 23)

Seeking a place of refuge from the busyness of daily living? Yin yoga weaves together South Asian yogic practices with the wisdom of Taoism and Chinese Medicine, offering a rich container grounded in the seasons and elements. Whether you want to stretch and hydrate the connective tissues of the body, work with your energy, soothe the mind, or drop into a place of wisdom and intuition, Yin offers something for every body.

Yin, of the cosmic counterparts of yin and yang, refers to the quiet, lunar, cool, dark, downward moving, and more dense – our class and space will nurture these qualities. Expect grounding guidance and pranayam (breath/life force practices), an asana practice (generally 4-6 postures, held for several minutes each), and extended integration with soundbath. Our weekly, 90-minute classes will be themed to the season and moment, reflecting and integrating what is happening in the wider world and in our lives.

This offering celebrates practitioners of all bodies and identities – no experience with yoga, meditation, or soundbaths is required. In the words of my beloved teacher Susanna Barkataki: if you have a body, you have a yoga body!

Meet Your Teacher

Hi there! I am Katey Peck (she/her) a yoga guide, facilitator, and writer committed to the messy and vital work of collective liberation. I share teachings and practices to support our bodies, lands, and communities to find healing and freedom. I hold my stewardship of yoga as soul activism and sacred duty – I choose this work as it chooses me.

I was first drawn to yoga out of curiosity. I stayed to heal my relationship with my body-mind. And I envision that yoga continues to (re)build communities and repair relationships with land and non-human kin. With over 15 years of practice, 600 hours of formal training, and 2 years of full time teaching, my current sweet spot is leading quiet, contemplative classes in the yin and restorative styles.

As a white settler, I uplift yoga as Indigenous knowledge and praxis that is in conversation with the Native lands and lifeways we rely upon. While yoga’s benefits can be felt and experienced by all, it is vital that we understand and honor how teachings are forever tied to specific lands, languages, and cultures.

A quote that is really inspiring me right now: “Some believe everything is political including spirituality. I see it as everything is spiritual, including politics. Meaning spirituality isn’t for escaping the world but for staying in relationship with it. Our inner life impacts choices in real systems that impact real lives.” – Maryam Hasnaa

Why am I offering this class now, at Inner Alchemy?

In this moment of accelerated change, social uprising, and collective grief, we need and deserve spaces where we can rest, practice, and be. This time demands that we (re)devote ourselves to care, (re)learn how to be in deep connection, and (re)connect to our values and dreams. I invite you to this space of refuge, of experimentation, of wholeness. Bring yourself, exactly as you are, presuming complete welcome and acceptance.

I am a joyful member of the Inner Alchemy Collective, and am excited to deepen my relationship to the wider community. I know the space we create together is deeply transformative, and I want to extend my inspired work to you.

This is a practice of healing, not just for yourself, but for your family, community, beloveds, ancestors, and descendents. This is not just a space to move your body, but a place to cultivate the clarity, hope, capacity, and fire needed to navigate this world with love and resistance.
