Heavily Meditated: A Free Community Meditation Experience

Guided by Maari Falsetto – Featuring Kirtan Kriya

In our fast-paced world, finding stillness can feel like a luxury. Heavily Meditated is a space where we slow down together — a free community gathering devoted to presence, breath, and the deep nourishment that comes from shared stillness. Each session invites us to return to ourselves while connecting with the collective energy of those around us.

For the last 2 years I have been guiding our community in the Kirtan Kriya, a timeless meditation practice from the Kundalini Yoga tradition. This powerful, multi-sensory meditation uses sound, movement, and focus to harmonize the body, mind, and spirit.

About Kirtan Kriya

Kirtan Kriya combines mantra (chanting), mudra (hand movements), and visualization to create a deeply integrative experience. The mantra Sa Ta Na Ma — meaning “Infinity, Life, Death, Rebirth” — represents the natural cycle of existence. As we chant aloud, whisper, and then move into silent repetition, the vibration of these sounds guides our awareness through the full spectrum of being.

The accompanying finger movements (touching thumb to each fingertip) help balance both hemispheres of the brain and activate energy points connected to clarity and creativity. This combination of sound, movement, and mindfulness makes Kirtan Kriya one of the most studied and beneficial meditations available today.

The Benefits of Kirtan Kriya

Research has shown that regular practice of Kirtan Kriya can:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety, calming the nervous system and lowering cortisol levels

  • Improve memory and cognitive function, supporting mental clarity and focus

  • Enhance mood and emotional balance, through rhythmic breathing and sound vibration

  • Support spiritual connection and intuition, helping you feel more aligned and present

This meditation engages multiple senses — voice, touch, hearing, and visualization — creating a full-bodied experience that grounds the mind while awakening deeper awareness.

The Power of Community Meditation

Meditating in community amplifies the practice. When we come together in stillness, our collective energy supports individual transformation. Shared breath and silence create an atmosphere of connection and compassion that extends far beyond the meditation itself.

Community meditation reminds us that we’re not alone in our inner journeys — that our calm and healing contribute to the well-being of others. Together, we generate coherence, kindness, and presence that ripple outward into our lives and communities.
