What is Offered?

Swedish or classic - what most people think of when they hear the word massage. Long, flowing strokes of varying depths revive and awaken the muscles. Swedish is generally a relaxing massage but can be vigorous if necessary.

Deep Tissue  - this type of massage is used to address muscle structures and connective tissue that are below the superficial muscles. It is generally used to address chronic pain and to release habitual holding patterns. Although clients will ask for deep tissue, most are referring to deep pressure.

Neuromuscular Therapy - specific short cross-fiber strokes and direct pressure are used to release trigger points, areas of localized or referred pain.

Soft Tissue Release - developed by Stuart Tawes for British Olympic track athletes; it is effective immediately and long lasting. STR utilizes a method that pins the muscle fibers while they are being stretched. The client may be actively involved by moving some part of their body to facilitate the release.

Medical Massage - is result oriented and  the treatment is specifically directed to resolve conditions that have been diagnosed and prescribed by a Physician. The therapist may use a variety of modalities or procedures during the treatment, but will focus the Medical Massage treatment only on the areas of the body related to the diagnosis and prescription.

Structural Relief Therapy -  Structural Relief Therapy reprograms involuntary muscle contraction. Decreasing involuntary muscle contracture reduces pain and inflammation while enabling increased range of motion. Tender points are found within the muscle and then that muscle is held in a position that "turns off" the tender point and releases the contracture. This style of massage is amazingly effective for chronic holding patterns caused by repetitive motions.

What to Expect During a Session

The room will be prepared with intentions of wholeness and peace in preparation for your massage. Your therapist will ask you questions and may have you fill out a health intake form to determine your desired results from massage therapy.  This information helps the massage therapist structure the session to achieve your health and wellness goals.  There will be a high quality padded massage table with clean sheets and you will have privacy to remove clothing to your comfort level.  Lighting will be low and music may be played during your massage session.  There may be oils used to facilitate massage without excessive friction to the skin.  You are encouraged to communicate your preference on pressure or any of your needs to your therapist.

A massage can last 60-90 minutes.  Since toxins are released from your soft tissue during massage it is recommended to drink plenty of water following your massage.
